Brooke Christa Shields (born May 31 1965) is an American actress and model. She was initially a child model and gained critical acclaim when she was 12 years old for her lead role in the film of Louis Malle Pretty Baby (1978). She continued modeling into her teens, and was a part of several dramas during the 1980s, such as The Blue Lagoon (1980), and Franco Zeffirelli's Endless Love (1981).In 1983, Shields suspended her career as a model to go to Princeton University, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in Romance Languages. Shields played minor roles in films and returned to acting roles in the 1990s. She also appeared on the NBC sitcoms Suddenly Susan (1996-202000), where she was nominated two Golden Globes. Lipstick Jungle (2008-2009) was her second nomination. Shields was back on NBC in 2017 to reprise her role as a major role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unified's 19th season. Since 2014, Shields has voiced Beverly Goodman in the Adult Swim animated series Mr. Pickles and its spinoff Momma Named Me Sheriff. Brooke Christa Shields was a Manhattan, New York, native born on May 31, 1965. She is the daughter of Teri Shields, actress and model, as well as Frank Shields, a businessman (1941-2003). Her mother was of English, German, Scotch-Irish and Welsh descent, while her father had English, French, Irish, and Italian ancestry.According to the research of William Addams Reitwiesner, Shields has ancestral links with many noble families from Italy and, specifically, from Genoa and Rome. These are namely (in chronological order of descent from 1355 to 1965) the Gattilusi-Palaiologos-Savoy, Grimaldi, Imperiali, Carafa, Doria, Doria-Pamphili-Landi, Chigi-Albani, and Torlonia dynasties. Marina Torlonia di Civitella Cisi di Civitella was her paternal grandmother. She was the daughter of an American socialite as well as an Italian prince. Her uncle was Alessandro Torlonia from Italy, who was married to Infanta Beatriz of Spain. The family of Teri paid Frank an amount to end her pregnancy.
